How to Convert A Facebook Video into an MP3 Audio File

There's no getting away from it... File storage is at a premium everywhere!

Long-term storage of your live stream sermons on Facebook has come to an end, so what is your next option?

Instead of paying extra for video storage, you may want to consider converting old sermons into an audio file and uploading them into the sermon area of your website. If this interests you, Blake has outlined every step you need to know.

Start Here: Download your live stream video from Facebook...

Please see the Facebook help article here on downloading live stream videos.

  1. Log in to your Church Facebook page where you live stream from each week.
  2. On your Facebook page, select the "More" option and in the dropdown menu select "Live" to see your prior live stream video.

  3. Select the live stream video that you would like to download.

  4. Click on the three dots in the top right, then click Download Video. Your video will start downloading on your computer.

  5. You will be prompted to save the downloaded video to your computer. Go ahead and save the video by hitting the save button.

Now you have downloaded the Facebook Live video, and it's on your computer, you can now choose whether to upload the video to another platform, such as YouTube or Vimeo, or you can convert the video MP4 file into an audio format MP3 file so you can upload it to your ChurchSpring site directly.

Convert Video File Into Audio File

In order to convert the video file into an MP3 you will need to use an MP3 converter software program. There are many options out there today for free that you can use to convert an MP4 video file to an MP3. For this tutorial, I am going to use an online option through the website of Restream.io

In order to convert a video file into an MP3 using Restream.io follow these steps:

  1.  Visit the following website restream.io/tools
  2.  Scroll down to the Audio Tools section and select the "Audio Converter".

  3. Click on the "Choose File" button and select the video file you want to convert from your computer.

  4. Once the file has loaded, make sure the output option is set to MP3 Format, and then select "Convert".

  5. Once the conversion is complete, you will be prompted to download the converted MP3 file. Select the download button and save the MP3 file to your computer.

Now you have converted the video file into an MP3 audio file that can now be uploaded to the sermon inside your website!

Upload Audio File Into Your Website

To upload an audio version of your live stream (and replace the old Facebook video embed code in your Sermons area), follow the steps outlined below.

  1. Log in to your Churchspring website and navigate to your sermons page, locate the sermon that you want to replace the Facebook video for and select it to begin editing.

  2. Once you have opened the sermon editing window, select the "AUDIO FILE" tab at the top of the window.

  3. Next select the blue "BROWSE" button to select the relevant MP3 file on your computer to upload the file.

  4. Once the file has finished uploading, click the save button at the bottom of the sermon window to save the audio upload.

  5. You can now log out, and when you select the sermon it will now show the audio player and play the audio live stream.

That's it! You have now successfully downloaded a Facebook live stream, converted the video into an MP3, and successfully uploaded that MP3 into your sermon on your website!
